The Angel of the North is the inspiration for a new attraction in a farmer's field in Buckinghamshire . . . as a scarecrow!
Locals in Sherington claim Antony Gormley's famous statue is the perfect shape to frighten birds.
Its outstretched arms are supposed to deter crop-stealing birds from landing in the field.
It was spotted by exiled Geordie Alan Corbett, who lives in nearby Hanslope, on his way to work at a development agency.
Alan, 55, formerly from West Denton, Newcastle, said: "It's very lifelike from a distance. It's tall, though not as tall as the real Angel, but a good size.
"There are regular scarecrow festivals in this part of the world but I am not aware of any at the moment.
"The Angel of the North is a great advert for the North East and has become well known down here from appearances in TV dramas and documentaries."
