I WRITE with reference to Ken Oxley’s column “Meet my teddy bear, Jesus” last week, as it presented an unbiased analysis of a situation that has ashamed many Muslims like me.
I am confident that if other Western journalists would write like Ken does, the “clash of civilizations” or “Islamophobia” would become a myth because the media is the main tool to fuel anger, to raise hatred against faiths/beliefs as well as to increase discrimination against religions by portraying untruths or quotations from holy books out of their proper context. I wish there were more of your colleagues in the Western media who only do their jobs . . . to help people understand, without bias, the real meanings behind religious concepts that are part of our daily life — ABDULA MANAFI MUTUALO, department of culture and social affairs, Organisation of Islamic Conference Saudi Arabia.
