A time to give

AS the father of a son who suffered serious burns, the idea that blood might not have been available when he needed it the most is heartbreaking for me.
Not everyone realises that only four per cent of the eligible population actually gives blood. I am writing to say a huge thank you to all of those loyal blood donors who have taken the time to give blood during 2007. Please remember to keep giving in the New Year . . . regular donors can give up to three times throughout 2008.
So please think about registering. Donors can ring 0845-771 1711 or visit www.blood.co.uk to find the nearest blood donation session — PETE WATERMAN, record producer.
