Misery guts should be given the bird

I have just been reading the article on page three of the Sunday Sun.

Mick and June  Duddy  look a genuine, pleasant, kind and caring couple who would do anyone a good turn if they could.

They also look decent and clean and not the sort who would attract vermin to their garden.

They obviously love watching the birds, the same as most other retired people.

So I felt compelled to write, not about Berwick Council, who must have procedures to carry out as part of their work and probably haven’t been to view the situation, but about the “miserable gits” (excuse my language) who made the complaint in the first place.

A few bits and pieces on a bird table will soon be eaten up by the birds and if the complainants don’t like hearing birds’ song I would suggest that they keep some ear-plugs handy so as not to deprive the majority of the neighbours who do.

I admire Mick  Duddy  for standing up for what is right and hope he and his wife are allowed to continue to do so, without anymore hassle from the council or otherwise — R McLaughlan, East Flemington, Burnmouth, Scottish Borders.

  • IN last week’s Sunday Sun we ran a story about a couple who have been ordered to stop feeding birds as their garden.

We printed their names as Mick and June Dunny but their surname is in fact  Duddy .

We wish to apologise for any inconvenience and embarrassment the error has caused.
