School reunion appeal

IT is 50 golden years since we all left school.

This 12th reunion is for all pupils who attended school in the years between 1949 and 1959. This includes Westoe Infants 1949 to 1951, when we split up in and half attended Laygate Juniors and the other half Mowbray Road Juniors. Then we were all back together in 1955 until 1959 (boys downstairs and girls upstairs) in Westoe Seniors.

Our reunions have gone from strength to strength each year. People travel from all parts of the country . . . Kent, Oxfordshire, London and Coventry.

We would like to see a few more of the teachers, if possible.

For our 10th reunion we managed to get in touch with one of the teachers who taught in Mowbray Juniors and he gave an excellent speech that brought back happy memories and he also had a selection of photos.

Each year I get asked if I can trace more old school friends. This year we are looking for Yvonne Eggleton, Carol Elliott, Christine Standing, Lesley Dunn, Linda Maughan, Wendy Corn. Among the boys, Alan Wallace, Roy Bradley, Ronnie Ford, Billy Price, Clifford Dodsworth, Brian Leyton and Eric Palin.

Our reunion this year is on April 1 at Marsden Inn beginning at 7pm with a hot buffet and entertainment. There are a limited number of tickets available and we are all looking forward to yet another brilliant night. Call me on 0191-456 7934.
