THE deadline for entries to the Bupa Great North Run is fast approaching and Leukaemia CARE is celebrating its 40th birthday in September 2009, the time of the Great North Run.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank your readers who are running and raising money for Leukaemia CARE on September 20 and to appeal to other runners to consider taking one of our places and support our charity’s CARE Line which offers valuable support to patients and their families in your area.

We will have 165 runners on the day running alongside thousands more running in aid of a cause that is close to their heart.

As a small charity we are appealing to your readers to help make our 40th anniversary the best year yet in the Bupa Great North Run.

This event is one of our major fundraisers and vital to the survival of the charity.

We receive no Government or lottery funding, could your readers take up the challenge of the Great North Run for us?
