Help is at hand

Could you be a superhero?

ON the anniversary of two emergencies, Burma and China, Save the Children has lanched an emergency volunteer recruitment drive. We’re looking for hundreds of "superheroes" to help in an emergency.

In the first appeal of its kind, we are calling on the UK’s superheroes to sign up as fundraisers for emergencies by calling our hotline 0207-012 6400 or logging on to www.savethechildren.org.uk/givetime

Former Busted band member Matt Willis, winner of the 2006 I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, is the first superhero to sign up. He says: "You don’t have to have superpowers to make a difference."

Each volunteer will receive an emergency tin containing T-shirts, 10 top tips for fundraising, world maps and a memory stick with videos showing clips from Save the Children’s previous emergency responses, and guidelines on how they should get out there fast to raise funds and help save children’s lives – KATE REDMAN, Save The Children.
