Boro target Jaaskelainen

Jussi Jaaskelainen

MIDDLESBROUGH are tracking Bolton free agent Jussi Jaaskelainen.

The Finnish keeper (right) looks set to leave the Reebok when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Boro are on the look-out for a replace- ment for Mark Schwarzer, whose River- side deal also ends in the summer.

Boro face competition from Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, as well as a host of clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany, for the 33-year-old, who seems certain to leave the Trotters.

“We have had one round of talks with Bolton and that was some 12 months ago, since then we have heard nothing,” said Jaaskelainen’s agent, Peter Harrison.

“There are several clubs showing an interest and we would expect a deal to be tied up soon.”
