MIDDLESBROUGH are lucky to have Steve Gibson, Gareth Southgate insists - because the Boro chairman lets him get on with his job.
While Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United have lurched from one managerial PR disaster to the next this past month, the Teessiders - like Sunderland - have suffered no such problems.
And Southgate attributes that squarely to Gibson and chief executive Keith Lamb.
“We’re very lucky to have Steve, he allows me to do my job,” said Southgate, right. “Keith is here pretty much every day to help me, he’s experienced a lot of things in football that I haven’t.
“It’s not just a case of me knocking on the door for money all the time, sometimes I’m looking for advice.”
