Workington Comets 56, Redcar Bears 36

FIVE different Redcar riders won a heat in Saturday’s Premier League meeting at Derwent Park before Workington doubled their 35-25 lead into the eventual 20-point margin.

Highlights for the Bears included a victory for James Grieves over the Comets’ James Wright in heat three and a shock win in heat eight by their guest reserve, South African Byron Bekker.

Gary Havelock, Mat Tresarrieu and Chris Kerr all won a race but the home side finished strongly with Wright gaining his revenge over Grieves by capturing heat 12. Comets’ guest reserve Barry Burchatt defeated Kerr’s tactical ride in heat 14.
