NORTHUMBERLAND rider Scott Campbell has announced his plans to tackle the Manx GP this summer.
And the 24-year-old, who has been racing just three years, has set his sights firmly on a racing career on the roads.
The Otterburn rider will also compete in the North East Motorcycle Racing Club events this season in the Superstock 600 class onboard a Yamaha R6, in preparation for his Manx assault where he will ride his Mini-Twin machine.
"I’m going to start the year doing the Superstock 600s in the club events, both here and in Scotland, which will be a good warm-up to the Manx with the Mini-Twin," he said.
"The Manx isn’t until August so I’ve got plenty of time, although I think I’m already counting down the days because I can’t wait."
Scott, who was in the same class at school as Superbike and Supersport star Graeme Gowland, decided to take up racing after falling in love with the speed and power of his road bikes.
"Gowla was in my class and in those days he was doing Motocross.
"He wasn’t into racing then and I certainly had no interest either.
"It wasn’t until I left school and became interested in riding a bike on the road that I realised that racing was what I fancied.
