CUMBRIA’S Alex MacDowall will team up with Jason Plato again this year after re-signing with the factory RML/Chevrolet squad to contest the British Touring Car Championship.
In his debut season last year, the 20-year-old from Carlisle announced his arrival with two podiums and taking pole twice in the team’s Cruze.
MacDowall, who is already one of The British Racing Drivers’ Club Rising Stars, has also been one of just 14 young drivers to take part in its prestigious Superstars programme, an intensive training scheme designed to improve their racing skills further. And with his 2011 season all agreed and signed, he is now looking forward to the challenge of another season with Plato – who is gunning for his third crown this year.
“It’s fantastic to be staying with RML for my second year in the BTCC and I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of the Cruze and begin preparations for the new season”, he said.
“There were some amazing highlights last year and I learned so much from RML’s Silverline Chevrolet team and being team-mate to Jason.
“The aim for 2011 is regular podiums and, hopefully, wins too.”
