BERWICK Bandits took their chance to honour one of their most worthy of testimonial recipients last night at Shielfield Park when four teams of international stars took to the track to raise funds for injured Czech Adrian Rymel.
Edward Kennett and Mark Lemon rode the tightest of opening bends in Heat Four, with Kennett Brit putting his side equal first on eight with The Aussies, ahead of The Danes’ five and the Czech’s three.
Heat Five came to a dramatic halt when Rene Bach clattered Michal Makovsky’s rear wheel, sending the former Bandit into the fence.
Kennett excelled in the eighth race bringing his Brits up to level pegging with the Aussies on 18.
Lee Complin got to grips with the track in Heat 11 putting the Brits two behind the Aussies who led on 24 with the Czechs and Danes trailing.
Kozza Smith was chasing Kennett hard throughout Heat 12, but despite a massive effort, Kennett took the win for the Brits to pull one point closer.
Smith went hard under Complin on bend three of Heat 15, with the Bandit’s skipper taking a knock on his arm, and was excluded from the re-run and critical points were lost to the Aussies, who took the event with 32 points over the Brits’ 29.
