Only Barcelona could tempt Jose away

United is such a "crazy" club

JOSE ENRIQUE has branded Newcastle a “crazy club” – both behind the scenes and in the stands.

But while the Spaniard will be happy for an end to the madness within St James’s Park, he will never tire of the Geordie public’s insane brand of loyalty.

“Would a team in the Spanish Second Division get 44,000 fans for a game? No way,” reflected Enrique on the gate United drew for their last Championship home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

“There is no chance of a team in the First Division in Spain getting 44,000, except Real Madrid and Barcelona.”

“Sometimes I played for Villarreal against Barcelona and our stadium would not be full.”

With tomorrow’s visit of Leicester possibly drawing an even bigger crowd, Enrique added: “It’s crazy – unbelievable. The fans here are incredible, the best in England.”

But from the sublime to the ridiculous . . .

“Things at the club were crazy here last season, but I have to think ‘it’s not my problem’. I just have to play, and play well,” Enrique said.

“If all the players think like that, we can get back to the Premier League.”
