NUFC defender Steven Taylor says he's here to stay

Steven Taylor

STEVEN TAYLOR has laughed off suggestions he might leave Newcastle this month – insisting he no longer bothers even listening to transfer talk.

The homegrown defender, who will turn 24 later this month, has been recently and repeatedly linked with Everton among other Premier League clubs.

And fans have feared that United may choose to cash in on Taylor or other players responsible for taking the club to the Championship summit.

Kevin Nolan, however, has quietly made it clear he is determined to stay on Tyneside rather than make a move to one of several top-flight clubs alerted to his impressive form.

Jose Enrique is another star performer who claims to have no interest in jumping ship midway through the season.

And Taylor is now openly dismissive of the idea that he would look to return to the top flight rather than help ensure Newcastle get back there in May.

“It’s rubbish. Speculation doesn’t bother me one bit any more,” he said. “Every weekend you’re reading the News of the World, and it mentions one club or another. I just ignore it.
