Mort's big cash promise

NEWCASTLE chairman Chris Mort last night promised big money for Sam Allardyce in the January transfer window . . .
As they already begin to plan a worldwide talent trek in search of some of the best youngsters on the planet.
Mort sanctioned nine new signings this summer, but says more are to follow.
“Our minds are already turned to who we might bring in . . . and we’d like the focus to be on bringing in players that we can develop over the long term,” said the new United supremo.
Meanwhile, speculation is mounting that Newcastle striker Michael Owen hopes to continue playing without a hernia operation until after England’s Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia next month.
