Pools 1, Cheltenham 1

POOLS suffered a late setback in their promotion bid as a last-minute equaliser from the visitors gave them the advantage going into the second leg of this League Two play-off semi-final.

Eifion Williams gave Pools the lead with a free header that sparked wild scenes of joy from the home fans.

However, Cheltenham secured a priceless draw in second-half stoppage time. Neil Grayson found himself on his own in the Pools box, and he scored from a tight angle to deflate the home fans.

The second leg also ended 1-1, Cheltenham winning 5-4 on penalties.
