Berwick Rangers 3 Queen’s Park 1

BERWICK Rangers ended Queen’s Park’s 12-match unbeaten run at Shielfield Park.

Queens opened with David Murray who flicked a pass from Graeme Eaglesham wide before Jamie Longworth tested home keeper Ian McCaldon with a 20-yard drive.

As Rangers turned the tables Adam Strain was forced to rise above Damon Gray to gather in a high delivery from Darren Gribben, who had a chance to break the deadlock latching on to a long pass from Andy McLean but the keeper saved.

The hosts edged in front with Paul Currie netting from the penalty spot after Martin McBride was judged to have handled his cross.

David Greenhill doubled the tally on half time after Damon Gray and Paul Currie had shots blocked.

McCaldon was in action in the second half, pulling off a point-blank save from sub Craig Smith.

The Borderers hit back and Strain had to look lively as first Gribben then Gray closed in on goal.

The Spiders reduced the arrears when Anthony Quinn headed on 66 minutes after Smith flicked on a Paul McGinn delivery.

There was no mistake on 74 minutes when Greenhill blasted in number three from 18 yards after Gray got round the keeper.
