RYAN BRYMER was the toast of Murton as he struck the winner which lifted them off the bottom of the table and gave them their first taste of victory since September.

However, they had to do it the hard way and came from behind as Ryan Marshall gave visitors Stocksfield a fifth- minute lead in a nail-biting game.

Mark Smith levelled in the 15th minute and Murton went ahead on the half-hour as Paul Wintripp netted.

Brymer hit the third just five minutes later and, although Stocksfield’s Phillip Murray ensured a nervous finish as he pulled one back with five minutes to go, Murton held on for the points.

Cramlington Town have slipped into the basement after two controversial penalties in a 2-1 home defeat to leaders Ponteland United.

Andrew Davidson fired United ahead from the penalty spot after protests in the 65th minute.

Cramlington’s Cristen Priest smashed in a spot-kick which was equally disputed 10 minutes later.

Ponteland, though, breathed a huge sigh of relief as substitute Dean Gate netted the winner in the 80th minute to keepthem two points clear at the top.

Alnwick Town kept pace in second spot with a 2-0 success at Wark.

James Swordy grabbed the opener and Wyn Fremlin completed the scoring as Town returned to winning ways after three successive draws.

Carlisle City went behind at home to Shankhouse in the 17th minute when Noel Hanlon capitalised on a goalkeeping error.

David Dormand smashed in a second in the 80th minute and, although Steven Rooke gave City hope five minutes later, Dormand added his second with another stunning strike in stoppage time to complete a 3-1 win.

City manager Stephen Bellas was sent from the touchline and they also had a player sent off.

Killingworth Sporting’s Anthony Burns powered in a backpost header just before the break as they won 1-0 at Heaton Stannington.

Percy Main Amateurs came from behind to beat Ashington Colliers in extra time and book a spot in the final of the Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl against Seaton Delaval Amateurs.

Dylan Williamson shot the Colliers ahead just before the break, but Malcolm Morien equalised from the penalty spot.

Smyth netted the winner for Percy Main in the 112th minute.
