THERE was a party atmosphere at Brunton Park for the final game of the season.
Parachutists delivered the match ball and a new strip ahead of kick-off, but it was Yeovil Town who had three points to celebrate as they successfully spoiled the party.
Carlisle manager Greg Abbott said: “The dressing room is on its knees, the players are really disappointed with the way they have ended the season.
“We did not want it to whimper out and there are a few things which have crept in over the course of the last few weeks we are not happy about at all.
“This game highlighted all of the frailties which have led to us finishing mid-table and not higher.
“It has reinforced my opinion on where we need to strengthen if we want to push on.
“There is plenty for us to work with, and there are positives from what has been a good season, but we cannot rest on our laurels.
“This team could have finished higher and the season could have been even better, so I will talk to the owners and we will see what we can do.”
Midfielder Liam Noble was the first to show when he won the ball in midfield before striding forward to test Henderson with a stinging drive which needed a two-handed parry.
Andy Welsh responded at the other end as he ghosted past two to get to the edge of the box.
