NEWCASTLE Benfield extended their unbeaten sequence to 10 games when they won for the eighth time to move into fourth position.
Paul Baker’s side made a dream start, scoring after just six minutes. Paul Buzzeo split the defence and after John Campbell was fouled, Michael Chilton converted the penalty.
Benfield had to replace Shaun Bell with Damien Mullen on 14 minutes and the Mariners hit back without greatly troubling goalkeeper Andrew Grainger.
Just before the interval, Benfield doubled their lead when a cross from the right by Chris Carr sailed into the net.
