Tennis: Working girls are real aces!

TENNIS volunteers Lauren Jones and Paula Yarrow have seen their hard work in the community rewarded – with a VIP trip to Wimbledon.

Lauren and Paula (pictured below) have assisted with coaching at North Shields’ John Spence High School and the Cullercoats and Beverley Park Tennis Clubs for the past two years.

They received Centre Court tickets for recognition of the numerous hours they have committed to tennis coaching.

Paula put in more than 200 hours as part of Whitley Bay High School sixth form’s Step Into Sport programme.

Lauren, a pupil at Marden High School, has also undertaken hundreds of hours of assisting with tennis coaching.

Both girls also find the time to compete regularly, Paula representing Beverley Park Ladies and Lauren turning out for Cullercoats and Northumberland’s ladies senior team.

Lauren was also recently named as both Northumberland LTA and LTA National Young Volunteer of the Year.

ANYONE interested in taking part in junior tennis, mini-tennis, adult coaching sessions or wheelchair tennis sessions should contact Tennis Development Officer Stuart Cass on 07787 543 072.
