Cycling: Jack a Master veteran

VETERAN Jack Watson prod-uced a vintage performance to land a bronze medal at the UCI Masters Road Race World Champion-ships in Austria.

Jack, of Gateshead, has been racing for more than 40 years.

And the 70-year-old held off some strong opposition in St Johann, including a number of former professionals, to claim his medal,

Jack, who trains almost every day, can easily clock up over 10,000 miles in a year, and regularly competes against – and beats – younger cyclists.

Jack puts his achievements in the sport down to dedication and good diet.
