Regional round up

THE rugby season continues this week, with Tynedale taking on the side which finished bottom of National League Two last year, Harrogate.

Tynedale got off to a great start with a 25-7 win at Fylde last weekend. And after being pipped to the promotion post last season and losing in the play-offs, it is effectively a clash between two sides expected to be there or thereabouts in the division.

The North One season begins in earnest, with Darlington kicking off their campaign against Penrith . Westoe travel to Liverpool St Helens, while Middlesbrough open the season at home against Cleckheaton.

In North Two East, Gateshead make the relatively-short journey to York, while West Hartlepool and Durham City have an opening-day derby. Hartlepool Rovers are at Aldwinians, while Morpeth visit Aspatria. Carlisle have a home tie against Old Crossleyans.
