Big week for Thunder

DAVE WOODS has told his Gateshead Thunder players to set themselves up for a grandstand week.

Thunder head coach Woods takes his men to Blackpool this afternoon (kick-off 3pm), hoping for a win to keep them in the National Two race.

After Blackpool today, Thunder entertain two high- flyers in five days; first Oldham on Wednesday night, then Keighley on Sunday, June 8.

Woods’ men started their bumper fixtures fortnight with a 52-8 win at Rotherham last weekend, and the Aussie wants his men to do it again.

Woods said: “We have started this sequence of matches well, but we need to keep going. It’s important to get a win today, because after this we have two very tough matches ahead of us.”
