“It is still the Gateshead Thunder show, it is still all about us and it would have been counter-productive to do anything other than focus on ourselves this week.
“I wanted the players not to have any distractions, because it has been a tough time and I felt even doing the usual work on the opposition would detract from the fact it is up to us to do it from within and no other way.
“We have put ourselves under the microscope and we have to keep ourselves there.
“All we are focusing on is getting from minus six to zero, and once we are back to scratch then we can kick on from there.
“Until we get back to zero we are not looking past that, so we have not talked about the league as a whole and the season in its entirety, and we cannot look at that until we can get over this first big hurdle.
“We totally understand why the RFL docked those points, but the sooner we get back to zero the better.”
