Tait urges public to get behind Newcastle Falcons

ALAN TAIT has urged the North East sporting public to get out and support Newcastle Falcons this afternoon if they want to keep Aviva Premiership rugby in the area.

The Falcons play host to London Wasps in what is their first home game since the announcement of Semore Kurdi’s take-over from previous chairman Dave Thompson.

Tait said: “Semore is right behind this club and I would like nothing better than a real feel-good factor for his first home game in charge.

“I would love to see the people come out and support us, because at the moment the ticket office is not doing too well and the attendances are down.”

The head coach added: “We are expecting a small crowd at Kingston Park today and that should not be the case.

“We need people supporting this team, supporting Semore, and if we want to keep rugby in the North East then we need to get bodies in the stadium watching these guys.

“You will never get a lack of effort with this team and we are trying to play good rugby.

“The Rugby World Cup is on and the fans have the Sunday game they asked for, so let’s see everybody getting down to Kingston Park and backing us.”

The head coach has been working closely with Kurdi to try and improve on a Newcastle squad still striving for a first league win of the season, as they sit on the bottom of the table.
