Cats boss Sbragia lining up an experienced No 2

“Looking at it now I should have brought someone in to take a bit of workload off me.”

Appointing an assistant is another indication that Sbragia is in it for the long-haul.

The Black Cats boss has already earmarked potential signings for next season and has indicated that Djibril Cisse has a future at the Stadium of Light.

The Frenchman is understood to be interesting Tottenham but Sunderland still want the striker if he is prepared to be realistic with his wage demands.

“I’d think we’ll be interested in keeping Djib. He’s done extremely well,” he said.

“I’d love to bring in a lot of players but it’s like anything else, it’s the demands of the players.

“It depends on what they want and what the agent wants. I have figures in mind for what I want to pay in general. I won’t be held to ransom.”
