We’re stronger after injury woe says Zenden

Bolo Zenden

BOLO ZENDEN says Sunderland will emerge from January stronger – regardless of whether the Black Cats land their transfer targets.

Boss Steve Bruce is trying to bring in a striker and two defenders, with Schalke frontman Kevin Kuranyi, Paraguay international Salvador Cabanas, Wigan left-back Maynor Figueroa and Hamburg right-back Guy Demel on his wish-list.

But, whether or not Bruce is able to sign the players he wants before the transfer window closes, Zenden says Sunderland will go into February in a strong position.

The Black Cats have been struggling with a lengthy injury list for the last month – with NINE players out at one stage – but the signs are that the injury situation is now easing.

The Dutchman, who has himself just recovered from a hamstring problem, said: “The treatment room has been packed for the last month – we’ve been going in there in shifts!
