Sunderland will be praying Fulham’s in-form hitman Bobby Zamora does not recover from a knock in time for this afternoon’s game.
Ex West Ham man Zamora – who scored the only goal of the game against Sunderland at Craven Cottagein December – picked up an achilles injury in Fulham’s 1-1 draw in Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday night.
That result as enough to send the West London outfit into the next round of the Europa League. The 15-goal striker, who has netted eight times in the Premier League, is rated as a doubt for the trip to Wearside.
However, even if he does play, Gordon has warned against concentrating too much on just one Fulham goal threat.
He said: “Zamora’s had a good season and he is a handful, but we should not concentrate just on him – Fulham have good players throughout their team.
“If you are caught in the trap of concentrating too much on one player, it can cause trouble.
“You only have to look at Damien Duff coming in off the right wing and scoring with his left foot against Birmingham to see that they have other players who can hurt you, if you are concentrating too much on one threat.
“They have a lot of quality in their side, but we just need to concentrate on ourselves and we must sure we win the game.”
