STEVE BRUCE insisted there will be no panic as Sunderland’s troubling early season form continues.
The Black Cats boss watched his side stumble to a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea to extend their miserable run of home results – and leave them still searching for a first win of the campaign.
Bruce was left furious at the way Asamoah Gyan demanded a move in the early hours yesterday but said it could not be used as an excuse for a performance that was disappointing.
”I don’t want to make what happened with Gyan an excuse,” he admitted.
”It was very difficult against a very good Chelsea team.
”They had very good possession of the ball and we spent that much energy trying to get it back.
“When we had it, we gave it away too cheaply.
“Then the goals we gave away – the first goal in particular was an awful goal to give away against a team like Chelsea.
“But having said that we had a few chances which we needed to take against Chelsea.
“Just look at what they have on their bench – it gives you an idea of what we’re up against.”
