WES BROWN insists he has no regrets at swapping trophy-hunting with Manchester United for toil at Sunderland.
The ex-England centre-back has experienced something of a culture shock since leaving his home town club to join the Black Cats for a bargain £1m over the summer.
Because, while his old club have begun their title defence in style with goals galore and a 100% record so far, Sunderland go into today’s clash with Stoke City still searching for their first win of the campaign.
And the pressure is on Steve Bruce’s side after a miserable start to the season which has seen them pick up just two points from their first four games, lose the Wear-Tyne derby and crash out of the Carling Cup at the first hurdle.
But Brown remains convinced he made the right decision to leave Old Trafford and take on a new challenge at Sunderland.
“I’ve got no regrets at all,” he said. “Am I happy I made the right move? One hundred percent, yes.
“I could have stayed at Man U another year but there would have been no point. It becomes frustrating when you’re not playing.
“I spoke to the manager, we had a good chat and once I knew that I wouldn’t play many games, the decision was easy really.
“I was in with the manager for quite a while and he shook my hand – there’s no problem at all between me and Sir Alex Ferguson.
“I’m not the kind of person to hold a grudge, it was just the right time for me to move on.
“Sunderland have got ambition and are going places, so this was the right move for me, even though we haven’t had the start to the season we wanted.
“Losing the derby was disappointing. If we had lost at Liverpool and drawn the derby people might look at our start a different way, but that’s football.
“I was warned before I came up here what the pressure and scrutiny would be like.
