Michelle can't wed without dad's say-so

Liberty X star Michelle Heaton's father has told the Sunday Sun that his daughter will not marry lover Andy Scott-Lee without seeking his permission first.

The singer's father, David, said that, contrary to speculation, the couple had not become engaged.

Michelle, who has been starring in ITV1 show Celebrity Wrestling, is reported to have told friends she would marry Andy next year.

They have been dating for nearly three years.

Speaking from the family home in Gateshead, David said: "They are definitely not engaged.

"Andrew is a true gentlemen and he would do things properly and ask me for my daughter's hand in marriage . . . and he hasn't done that.

"They are very happy as they are for the moment but they have no plans to get married just yet."

The 25-year-old has stood by Andy, 23, brother of former Steps star Lisa Scott-Lee, through his career lows, including a failed bid on Pop Idol.
