Stars out at charity ball

Big Brother winner Anthony Hutton and Pop Idol's Zoe Birkett helped raise thousands for disadvantaged North East children.

They helped to collect more than £60,000 when they arrived as surprise guests at the Just for Kids charity SnowBall at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton Hotel.

They joined a host of guests welcomed by Father Christmas and were treated to a mulled wine and roasted chestnut reception before being dazzled by sparkling performances from X Factor stars G4 and the band Four Poofs and a Piano and Four Story.

Stephanie Buchanan, from Just for Kids, said: "We had a fabulous evening and the entertainment was all superb.

"G4 seemed to take everyone's breath away. Four Poofs and a Piano were hilarious and Brendan Healy's auction had everyone digging deep."

The event is the second ball for Metro Radio and Magic 1152's charity which last year saw patrons Ant and Dec play host. The charity's next fundraiser is the Secret Santa campaign. Ring Just for Kids on (0191) 279 0247.
