Star's fiancee bailed

The fiancee of England footballer Stephen Gerrard was released on bail yesterday after being questioned by police over an alleged assault.

Mother-of-two Alex Curran, 23, was arrested following an early morning brawl at a Chinese restaurant in Liverpool city centre.

Shambles of a gig

Rocker Pete Doherty and his band Babyshambles made their performance last night at a gig for Channel 4 one to remember - by wrecking the stage.

Hexham-born Doherty was performing with his band for the channel's live music show Transmission with T-Mobile. In true rock star-style the group trashed the set at the Riverside Studios in west London.

Welsh beauty queen Imogen last night became the latest contestant to be voted out of the Big Brother house.

The 23-year-old bar hostess was nominated for eviction after receiving nominations from three of her fellow housemates.

She had been up against waiter Richard and had been 25-1 on for the chop. She received 62% of the votes in the phone-in.

Meanwhile, the housemates voted to allow Nikki to re-enter the Big Brother house.
