• Sylvester Stallone has settled his legal battle with ex- heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner, the inspiration for Rocky. Chuck claimed Stallone failed to honour promises of payments.

• John Irving and Stephen King have launched a campaign to stop J.K. Rowling from killing off boy wizard Harry Potter. The authors are confident they can persuade Rowling to keep Potter alive.

• Robin Williams has been in rehab for a month. He decided to tackle his alcoholism after he ordered a lot of expensive merchandise online, but had couldn't recall doing so.

• Sideways star Paul Giamatti is in negotiations to star as sci-fi author Philip K. Dick, who died in 1982. The author penned more than 50 books and numerous short stories, with seven being adapted for the big screen.

• Rumours are rife that Mel Gibson - in the wake of his recent drink-driving arrest and rants against Jews - is about to sign up to make a fifth Lethal Weapon movie . . . a thinly-veiled attempt to get his career back on track perhaps?

• Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has given the game away for fans of the Channel 4 show . . . she's accidentally blabbed that her character Susan WILL get her man, plumber Mike Delfino.

• Pop princess Britney Spears may have inadvertently revealed the sex of her second baby to her fans, before the little cherub has been born. The starlet has been spied shopping for baby clothes and she snapped up a plush pink baby blanket.
