R BALKI writes and directs this touching drama about a father-son relationship. Thirteen-year-old Auro (Amitabh Bachchan), left, suffers from a rare, progeria-like condition, which causes him to age prematurely. Mentally, he is a teenager like all of his school friends, but physically Auro looks five times older. His mother Vidya (Vidya Balan), a gynaecologist, looks after her boy and tries to give him every opportunity to realise his dreams in a world that is sometimes cruel and intolerant. Auro seeks out his father, ambitious politician Amol Arte (Abhishek Bachchan), who is on a crusade to prove to voters that the men and women in power are not all corrupt and self-serving. Meeting his son, Amol discovers a new-found love of life and, together, man and child forge a new future together.

IN 1977, Steven Spielberg introduced audiences around the world to Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. The film took its title from a scale devoted to alien encounters: the third kind refers to actual contact with extra-terrestrials. The first kind are mere sightings, while the second kind is any encounter supported by evidence. Olatunde Osunsanmi’s fact-based thriller deals with encounters of the fourth kind – alien abduction. Dr Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich), runs a practice in Alaska where there are an abnormally high number of people claiming to have been subjected to experiments at the hands of aliens. Abigail begins challenging her beliefs about whether we are alone in the universe.

A husband (Willem Dafoe) and his younger wife (Charlotte Gainsbourg) are engaged in lovemaking, oblivious to the actions of their baby son, who is supposedly sleeping. In a tour-de-force prologue shot in slow motion, the infant climbs out of his cot to the strains of an aria from Handel’s first opera Rinaldo, opens the child safety gate and climbs up onto a table, eventually falling out of an open window to his death. The devastated couple seek refuge in a remote woodland cabin where the spirits of the forest have a strange effect on the wife. As tensions between the couple escalate, the grief-stricken mother unleashes her fury upon her spouse, culminating in a shocking act of self-harm.
